What is the difference between broadloom metres and square metres?
Carpet is generally made 3.66 metres wide (some may be 4 metres). This is called a broad loom metre, or may be called a lineal metre. One blm is a section of carpet 1 metre in length x 3.66 metres across. A square metre is 1 metre wide x 1 metre long. Prices are sometimes quoted in square metres, but carpet has to be purchased in broadloom metres, simply because it’s made so wide!
